The Alabama Power Internship Program at the Edmundite Missions Center for Workforce Development is a one-semester program that combines paid employment in the work of the Missions with academic support and training in workforce participation. This internship will provide you employment skills, workplace communication, hard and soft skills for future employment.

A Structured and Sustained Learning Experience for High School Seniors

The Alabama Power Internship program provides a structured and sustained learning experience for secondary school students that promotes the development and application of leadership, critical thinking, creativity, decision making, communication, time management and conflict resolution that will enhance the development of employability skills while expanding the ‘informal economy’ within Selma and Dallas Counties through the provisioning of basic business and marketing skills to individuals who wish to establish micro businesses.

The Internship is available to seniors at Selma High School. Each internship lasts one semester.  Worksites are throughout the operations of Edmundite Missions, based in the Dr. Michael and Catherine Bullock Community and Recreation Center.

The Catholic Sisters Initiative of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is a partner in this program.

The Alabama Power Internship Program at the Edmundite Missions Center for Workforce Development is a one-semester program that combines paid employment in the work of the Missions with academic support and training in workforce participation. This internship will provide you employment skills, workplace communication, hard and soft skills for future employment. It is limited to High School seniors at Selma High School.

This internship REQUIRES a commitment of an average of 15 hours per week, compensated at a rate of $12 per hour.

A High School Transcript and a Letter of Recommendation from a Teacher, Business Owner, or Adult with some type of Occupational role must accompany this Application to be considered for an internship.

Qualified applicants will receive an opportunity for an interview.
